LumberJim ("LumberJim," "we," "us," or "our") is a small shop in El Paso, Texas offering Tree Care services, Woodworking & Carpentry, and Collections pieces, and sharing woodworking plans and advice on this website (the "Site"). Your privacy matters to us, so we've written this policy in plain language. It explains what we collect when you browse the Site, request a quote, join our email list, create an account, comment on a post, enter a giveaway, or buy something from us, and what you can do about it.
By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

Information Collected Automatically
-
Site Traffic Data: When you visit, we log the IP address used to access the Site and the date and time. We also collect your browser type, device type, pages viewed, links clicked, referring site, and time spent on the Site. Logged IP addresses are not linked to any personally identifiable information. We use this to understand traffic trends and improve the Site's performance and quality.
-
Cookies and Similar Technologies: See Section 4.
-
Advertising Data: If ads are shown on the Site, our advertising partner may collect information about your device and your views of or clicks on ads. See Section 5.
Information From Other Sources
-
Etsy: If you buy through our Etsy shop, Etsy processes the transaction. We receive limited order details (such as your name, shipping address, and the item purchased) so we can fulfill your order. Etsy's own privacy policy governs what it collects.
-
Merchandise (Threadless and Redbubble): Branded merchandise is sold and fulfilled by these platforms. They handle payment, shipping, and returns under their own policies, and we don't receive your payment information.
-
Social Media: If you interact with us on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, or Pinterest, we may receive information those platforms make available to us, such as your public profile name and what you share with us. Check your privacy settings on those platforms.
-
Service Providers: Tools we use to run the Site and our business (hosting, analytics, email, payments) may share some information with us.
Payment Information
When you pay through a payment processor (such as Etsy, or Wix Payments once our store launches), the processor handles your card details. We don't receive or store your full card number.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use what we collect to:
-
Respond to quote requests, schedule Tree Care work, and make custom orders and Collections pieces
-
Fulfill orders and handle returns, shipping, and customer support
-
Run your account, comment sections, contests, giveaways, and surveys, and contact winners
-
Send email updates, if you've opted in
-
Understand how people use the Site so we can improve our content and fix problems
-
Show ads and measure how they perform, and track affiliate referrals
-
Keep our records for accounting, tax, and legal purposes
-
Protect the Site and our business, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with the law
3. How We Share Your Information
We don't sell your personal information in exchange for money. Here is who we do share it with:
-
Service Providers: Companies that help us operate, including our website host (Wix), our email marketing provider, analytics providers, and payment processors. They get only what they need to do their job for us.
-
Advertising and Analytics Partners: Google, through Google AdSense and Google Analytics, collects information through cookies and similar tools on our Site (see Sections 4 and 5).
-
Etsy, Threadless, and Redbubble: For orders placed through those platforms.
-
The Public: Comments and other content you post may be visible to anyone. Please don't post anything you wouldn't want public.
-
Legal and Safety Reasons: If the law requires it, or if we reasonably believe it's needed to enforce our terms or protect the rights, property, or safety of LumberJim, our customers, or others.
-
Business Changes: If LumberJim is ever sold, merged, or reorganized, your information may transfer as part of that.
-
With Your Consent: Any other time you ask us to share it or agree to it.
We may also share information in aggregated or anonymized form that doesn't identify you.
4. Cookies, Analytics & Tracking
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We and our partners use cookies and similar tools (pixels, scripts, and web beacons) to keep the Site working, remember your preferences, understand how visitors use it, and support advertising and affiliate tracking.
-
Analytics: We use Wix's built-in analytics and Google Analytics to see which pages people visit and how they find us. We may also use tools that show how visitors scroll and click, to spot what's confusing. To learn how Google Analytics uses data, visit policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. To opt out of Google Analytics, visit tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
-
Consent Banner: When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept or adjust your preferences for non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings icon on the Site.
-
Browser Settings: You can set your browser to notify you about cookies, delete existing ones, or reject them. Blocking cookies may make some features work less smoothly, and you'll need to adjust settings on each browser and device you use.
5. Advertising on This Site
This Site uses Google AdSense to display ads as a form of support for the work we do. Google and its partners use cookies and web beacons to collect information such as your browser, IP address, internet service provider, general location, and your views of and clicks on ads. This is generally done to show ads that are more relevant to your interests, including based on your browsing history, and to measure how ads perform.
Your choices:
-
Manage or turn off personalized ads at myadcenter.google.com
-
Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/ads
-
Opt out of interest-based ads from many advertisers through the Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info; youronlinechoices.eu for the EEA; youradchoices.ca/en/tools for Canada) or the Network Advertising Initiative (thenai.org/how-to-opt-out)
-
Use the cookie banner on our Site to decline advertising cookies
Opting out doesn't remove ads from the Site. It means the ads you see shouldn't be based on your interests. We aren't responsible for how well third-party opt-out tools work.
Under some state laws, advertising cookies like these may count as "sharing" for targeted advertising or as a "sale." You have the right to opt out, as described in Sections 9 and 10.
6. Amazon Associates & Affiliate Links
lumberjimep.com participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program that lets sites earn small commissions by linking to products on amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy something on amazon.com within 24 hours of clicking one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This isn't pay-per-click. A commission is earned only when a qualifying purchase happens.
We may also use affiliate links from other retailers in our blog and tutorial content. We only link to products we've actually used. Clicking an affiliate link takes you to a third-party site that may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
7. Email Communications
If you sign up for our email list, we'll only send you what you opted into, such as new projects, plans and how-tos, and promotions. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link and our contact information. You can unsubscribe at any time using that link or by emailing us (Section 17).
We may still send you transactional messages about your quote, order, or account, which you can't opt out of while that request or account is active.
8. Comments, Accounts & Contests
-
Comments: Comments you post may be displayed publicly with the name you provide. We moderate comments and may remove any that are offensive, abusive, spammy, or not relevant. To ask us to edit or remove your own comment, email us.
-
Accounts: You can ask us to delete your account at any time (Section 17). Some content you posted publicly may remain unless you ask us to remove it.
-
Contests, Giveaways, and Surveys: We use the information you provide to run the contest or survey, pick and contact winners, and, if you agree, share testimonials. Each contest may have its own official rules, which will explain any additional uses (for example, announcing a winner's first name and state).
9. Your Choices & Controls
-
Access, Correction, or Deletion: Email us (Section 17) to see, fix, or delete your personal information. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may keep some records where the law or legitimate business needs require it (for example, tax and order records).
-
Marketing Emails: Use the unsubscribe link in any email.
-
Cookies and Ads: Use our cookie banner, your browser settings, and the opt-out tools in Sections 4 and 5.
-
Opting Out of Targeted Advertising, "Sale," or "Sharing": Use the cookie banner, the tools in Section 5, or email us with the subject line "Opt-Out of Ads."
-
Social Media Platforms: Adjust ad and privacy preferences in your account settings on those platforms.
10. Your Privacy Rights
If You Live in the United States
Depending on where you live, state privacy laws (including those in California, Texas, and many other states) may give you these rights. Even where a law doesn't strictly require it, we're happy to honor these requests from any U.S. visitor:
-
Know and Access: Confirm whether we process your personal information, and get a copy in a portable format
-
Correct: Fix inaccurate information
-
Delete: Ask us to delete your personal information
-
Opt Out: Opt out of targeted advertising, "sales," and "sharing" of personal information
-
Non-Discrimination: We won't treat you differently for using these rights
-
Appeal: If we decline your request, you can appeal by emailing us with the subject line "Privacy Appeal"
To make a request, email us with the subject line "U.S. Privacy Rights Request." We'll respond within 45 days and tell you if we need more time. We may need to verify your identity before acting. You can also have an authorized agent submit a request for you, and we may ask for proof of their authority.
We don't use your personal information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we don't knowingly sell or share personal information of people under 16.
If You Live in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland
-
Who's Responsible: LumberJim, LLC (El Paso, Texas, United States) is the controller of your personal data. Contact: Section 17.
-
Why We Process Your Data (Legal Bases): To perform a contract or take steps you request (quotes, orders, accounts); based on your consent (non-essential cookies, advertising, marketing emails); for our legitimate interests (running and improving the Site, keeping it secure, understanding traffic); and to meet legal obligations.
-
Your Rights: Access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
-
To Exercise Your Rights: Email us with the subject line "GDPR Privacy Rights Request."
-
International Transfers: We're based in the United States, and our providers may process data there and in other countries. Where required, we and our providers use safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
11. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep personal information for as long as we reasonably need it for the purposes in this policy, unless the law requires or permits longer. For example: quote and order records are kept as needed for our business, tax, and legal obligations; email subscribers stay on our list until they unsubscribe; accounts stay until you ask us to delete them; and contest and survey information is kept as long as needed to run the contest or survey and meet legal requirements. Where information is used for more than one purpose, we keep it until the longest period ends.
12. How We Protect Your Information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, and we rely on established platforms like Wix for hosting and account security. That said, no system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee the security of information you send over the internet. If you find a security issue on the Site, please email us.
13. Third-Party Websites & Social Media
From time to time we link to websites and platforms we don't own or operate, such as retailers, social media sites, and other resources. The Site may also include social media buttons or embedded content (for example from Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, or Pinterest). These companies may recognize you and collect information about your visit, and your interactions with them are governed by their privacy policies, not ours. We don't control these sites and aren't responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please review their policies before using them.
14. Children's Privacy
Our Site isn't designed for children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we'll delete it promptly.
15. Visitors Outside the United States
We operate from the United States, and your information may be stored and processed here or in other countries where our providers operate. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those where you live. By using the Site, you understand your information may be transferred, stored, and processed in these places. See Section 10 for additional information for visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland.
16. Changes to This Policy & Your Consent
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll post the new version here and update the "Last Updated" date at the top. If we make a material change, we may also notify you in other ways. We encourage you to check back occasionally.
By using lumberjimep.com, you consent to the collection and use of information by LumberJim, LLC as described in this policy.
